Choosing the Right Font and Size for Your English PowerPoint Presentation

Introduction

Font choice can impact readability and audience engagement in a PowerPoint presentation.

The appropriate font size ensures that text is legible from a distance.

General Font Recommendations

Sansserif fonts (e.g., Arial, Helvetica, Calibri) are generally preferred for their clean lines and screen readability.

Serif fonts (e.g., Times New Roman, Georgia) may be used for emphasis or titles but can be less readable on screens.

Related Questions & Answers

Q1: Can I mix serif and sansserif fonts within the same slide?

A1: It's generally recommended to stick to one or two font types per slide for clarity and professionalism. Mixing fonts can create visual confusion.

Q2: How do I know if my font size is large enough for the audience to read?

A2: A good rule of thumb is to stand at the back of the room where the presentation will be shown and try to read the text on the slide. If it's difficult to decipher, increase the font size. Alternatively, use the "Slide Show" view in PowerPoint to preview how the slides will appear during the presentation.
